Faucet

Adam got a lot of work done today... finishing screwing down the backerboard, hiding the wire to the diningroom light fixture, and putting in the new faucet and airgap. Pretty, huh?

Saturday with the new house

Someone asked me what the new house looked like, and I realized we didn't have a picture. So here it is.
We have a pretty red rose in the front yard (well, a little ragged there on the bottom).

Finally, among other things, Adam screwed down an enormous number of screws into the Hardibacker board. Tile will happen after the granite, which is due to be installed on Monday!

Today, Adam worked more on drywall, priming the ceiling and leveling the floors.

More pics

More work on the kitchen. Drywall is in progress...

And Adam pulled out the dishwasher and fixed up the walls and base of the cabinet where the sink and dishwasher will be located.

Tuesday on a busy week

Today we got a door installed in the kitchen. The old door was solid. This one has a window. It helps with the light in the kitchen...

The kitchen is also evolving. The tile counters and backsplash are now gone. The sink is gone. The electrical is being moved and updated. Woohoo Adam!

Then, there is the bathroom. We have a floor!

Progress feels so good.

Sunday work

Sunday. The hardwood is dry and waiting for another coat tomorrow. Adam has blocked off the kitchen so he can do some destruction (the drop cloth on the right is blocking the kitchen).

Adam put in our nice new sconces... although there is some painting needed to erase the outline from the old sconces.

Here's the kitchen destruction. We need to get on with this because we picked out our granite yesterday, and they'll be coming to measure the counters on Wednesday.

There will be some electrical work too. Adam will move these boxes up on the wall, so they are above the granite backsplash.
There's still drywall work around the big beam in the kitchen, too. The exciting thing will be looking back at this space in a month or so... when the window will be replaced, we'll have the kitchen finished, with new appliances too.

House Progress

Adam has been busily working on electrical around the house.

Pretty, huh?
Our hardwood floor is in the midst of being redone too...

And the wall in the livingroom is getting better too.

Progress!!!

Electric and Floor

Adam has been busy. He's totally rerouted the electrical that was haphazard through this part of the wall (also, notice the nice metal patch holding the two beams together).

He's also layed out HardiBacker board through the kitchen.

When he got to the dining room, there was the challenge of getting the floor level. But, a little bit of wood and elbow grease and all is good.

Home Depot Run

3 weekends after buying a house... went to Home Depot (rented a truck to haul stuff home) and got materials for our next project: the tile floor in the kitchen and diningroom. Depending on how we can wrangle Molly, Adam and I will try to get much of the project done this weekend. But, it's all a little complicated... so our first step has been accomplished: get the stuff. Next is to do a quick cleanup of the space and then lay down Hardibacker board (with hundreds of screws!). Yippee!

House Update

Adam has been working hard on the house. Here are some new pictures showing some of the progress...

The electrical panel is moved, the drywall trimmed and ready for new drywalling, plus the beam has been filled and primed!

Adam also removed the tile on two of the 3 counters in the kitchen, in preparation for the granite. He's had to make drywall repairs to the wall here...

Speaking of drywall repairs, the bathrooms are coming along beautifully!

Adam also removed the trim around the back door that we'll be removing and walling up. Crazy to have a door here, anyway.
